The Carlington Community Chaplaincy

is a ministry of presence,

rooted in the Gospel,

fostering a safe, supportive and empowering environment

for everyone within our diverse community.

We honour and value all people.

What We Are

The Chaplaincy has been part of the Carlington area for over twenty years. We are a Christian ministry of presence. We have a specific focus and responsibility for those living in social housing. We work in a multicultural and multifaith environment to improve social conditions and to promote justice. The Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence to those in need, wherever people are in life. We are caring and understanding and have a listening and confidential presence so that people are free to share with us their stories, their pains and their hopes. Our initiatives are community led with the support of churches and service providers.  We offer skills development and workshops to our volunteers.  The Carlington Community Chaplaincy is sponsored by the Carlington Community Chaplaincy Council.

Our Initiatives

The Chaplaincy operates six support and social programs for men, women and youth in the area:

· D.R.E.A.M.S. Centre 

· C.A.R.E.S. Program

· B.R.O.S. Program 

. Bellevue Youth in Action

Funding

Funding for the Carlington Community Chaplaincy comes from many local churches and the Ottawa Presbytery of the United Church of Canada.  Our connections with and support from the churches not only provides us with monetary donations, they also provide us with volunteers to help with our various initiatives. Individuals provide us with their time, talents and support us with private donations. We do have fundraising events that contribute some funds to the Chaplaincy. We are grateful for all the churches and individuals who offer financial support and people who offer their time and talents to make this Chaplaincy an effective ministry of presence in the community.
